Properly Dressing Your Windows Increases House Resale Value

Switch Out Dark Curtains for Sheers

You might be using dark curtains in some rooms of the house because it’s important for you to keep out the light – maybe for climate control, or to make sleeping easier, or for other reasons. However, if you’re trying to sell your home, it’s important to allow light into your house to make your indoor spaces cheerful and welcoming. 

Switch out dark curtains for sheers. Sheers provide lots of natural light into indoor spaces while also providing just enough privacy for the people living in your home. 

Clean, Prep & Repair Your Windows

Before putting up any new treatments on your windows, clean the glass and screens to ensure the maximum amount of light enters your home. Clean your windows either with a commercial cleaning product or a homemade cleaning product made with vinegar, a dab of dish soap, and water.

Wipe down the glass first to remove any loose dirt, then spray the glass with the window cleaner, and wipe it away with a microfiber cloth. Use a clean cloth to dry the glass when you’re done.

To clean your screens, remove them from their frames. Gently scrub the screens on both sides using a sponge and warm soapy water, then rinse.

Launder Your Curtains

If you plan to keep your curtains instead of replacing them, launder your curtains to ensure they’re clean. Follow the instructions on the curtain tags. If you’re not able to find the laundering instructions, vacuum the curtains to remove dirt without putting them through a laundering process.
